Mission
Our mission is designing creative pathways to living wages for every family.
We promote the living wage and model it among low-income persons in small-business settings. We provide income-producing skills, jobs and ongoing supplemental support needed to help low-income families—particularly those headed by single women—reach stability, health and enhanced quality of life. Our innovative approach builds self-sufficiency.
Together, with you, we are making art :: changing lives.
Goals & Objectives
-
To teach participants, through a short-term curriculum, a marketable skill (initially, making high-quality jewelry using precious metals and stone beads), financial literacy, small-business basics, job readiness and life skills.
- To maintain long-term relationships with a number of graduates in a business context (initially, a small jewelry business) so their skills can mature as they earn adequate income.
- To spin off the business, if and when it becomes self-sustaining and participants are ready to manage it.
- To document successful models that can be replicated to promote economic development and self-sufficiency for those in need.
